UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following O R D E R

Heard Mr. K.K. Venugopal, learned Attorney General for India along with Mr. M. Shoeb Alam, learned counsel for the State of Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Prashant Bhusan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. Naresh Kaushik, learned counsel for the Union Public Service Commission.
It is submitted by learned Attorney General that the acting Director General of Police of the State of Jammu & Kashmir has been appointed to function temporarily and the names have been sent for consideration to the Union Public Service Commission for regular appointment.
Mr. Naresh Kaushik, learned counsel appearing for the U.P.S.C. would submit that in the communication sent by the competent authority of the Jammu & Kashmir government, certain deficiencies have been found. Whatever it may be, the State shall comply with the requirement as sought for by the U.P.S.C. within five days hence and the U.P.S.C. shall take a decision thereto within four weeks therefrom. Till the Union Public Service Commission takes a decision in the matter, the present arrangement will continue.
Let the matter be listed after six weeks.
