UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following O R D E R Heard Mr. Colin Gonsalves, learned senior counsel for the petitioners. He is directed to assist this Court with regard to the effect of the directions earlier issued by this Court and to comply with the directions consequent upon which, it is submitted by learned counsel appearing for the different States/Union Territories, some enactments were made by different States/Union Territories and further to assist us as to the legal effect of the aforesaid enactments, which are the subject matter of litigation before this Court in a public interest litigation, as submitted by learned counsel appearing for the different States/Union Territories. Learned senior counsel for the petitioners is also directed to file a detailed affidavit pointing out specifically with regard to the compliance of earlier directions of this 5 Court by the respective States/Union Territories and make specific averments as to the deficiencies, if any, in the compliance. States/Union Territories, which have not complied with the earlier directions are directed to file affidavit/better affidavit either through Principal Secretary to the Home Department or the Chief Secretary within two weeks.
