UPON hearing counsel the Court made the following ORDER

The petitioner was convicted under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act and was sentenced to suffer simple imprisonment for a year. A joint petition has now been filed on behalf of the complainant and the accused/ convict under section 147 of the aforesaid Act for leave to compound the offence. Having regard to above, the parties are allowed to compound the offence and the petitioner is acquitted of the charge against him under the provisions of Section 320 (8) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
