UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following ORDER

The office report indicates that service has been effected on the State of Tamil Nadu. None appears on behalf of the State.

  • 2 In this view of the matter, we deem it appropriate to require the Standing Counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu to appear in these proceedings and assist the Court.
  • 3 We direct that a counter affidavit be filed within a period of three weeks, annexing a copy of the report, if any, submitted under Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, after the conclusion of the investigation. The Standing Counsel shall also apprise the Court fully, through the counter affidavit, of the steps which were taken after the FIR was registered.
  • 4 Dasti permitted on the Standing Counsel for the State.
  • 5 List the Special Leave Petition on 16 August 2021.
