UPON hearing counsel the Court made the following O R D E R
I.A. NO.4 IN ORIGINAL SUIT NO.3 OF 2002 Before we pass orders on this application, we would require the Union of India to place before us its response to the application, particularly with reference to the personal requests made by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to the Prime
ª
Minister in her letters, requesting for convening a meeting of the Cauvery River Authority (CRA). We may, however, note that according to learned Senior Counsel appearing for the State of Tamil Nadu, pursuant to the order passed by this Court on 6th February, 2003 in I.A. No.2 in I.A. NO.1 with I.A. No.3 in Original Suit No.3 of 2002, a meeting of CRA was held on 10th February, 2003, but no consensus regarding release of water by the State of Karnataka to the State of Tamil Nadu could be arrived at.
We are pained to note that despite service of an advance copy of the application on Advocate-on-Record for the Union of India, no Senior Law Officer has been instructed by the Union of India to appear in this case, though Mr. S. Wasim A. Qadri, Advocate has put in appearance on their behalf.
Be that as it may, list the application for further orders on 3rd September, 2012. The State of Karnataka shall also file its response to the application within 10 days from today.
