UPON hearing counsel the Court made the following O R D E R
We find from the reports filed that most of the States have not complied with the provision of the Act. In regard to several States, there is only nominal or partial compliance. We therefore, request the learned Solicitor General to arrange for the concerned Department of Central Government to co-ordinate with the State Governments so that there is actual compliance rather than paper compliance in regard to the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2000. Mr. Colin Gonsalves, learned Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioner is requested to co-ordinate with the learned Solicitor General in regard to the further steps to be taken in the matter and finalise 4
the appropriate mechanism to ensure that the Act is implemented properly. List after four weeks.
