UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following O R D E R

We decline to interfere in this special leave petition. The special leave petition is, accordingly, dismissed.

However, we are at a loss to comprehend the time taken by the trial Court to conclude the trial despite the peremptory directions given by this Court vide order dated 02.12.2019. The explanation given by the counsel appearing for the prosecution does not impress us at all. Hence, we direct the Investigating Officer to ensure that the trial is completed by the end of January, 2021, failing which he shall be personally responsible and proceeded with appropriately by this Court.

Although we are dismissing the special leave petition, for reporting compliance the matter be posted in the first week of February, 2021, for orders.

The copy of this order be forwarded forthwith to the Trial Court on email/online, who shall ensure that the trial is concluded within the time granted as aforesaid.

Pending applications stand disposed of.
