ORDER
Leave granted.
Having heard the learned counsel for the parties, we are inclined to partly modify the impugned judgment and increase the compensation payable to the appellant, M. Balasubramanian, $bv$ ₹1,50,000/- (Rupees one lakh fifty thousand only). This amount will be in addition to the amount determined by the High Court.
The aforesaid payment will be made along with simple interest at the rate of 6% per annum, without compounding, with effect from the date the petition for compensation was filed. The amount so paid shall be converted into a Fixed Deposit<sup>1</sup> with the Post Office for a period of five years. The interest amount on the said FD will be paid to the appellant, M. Balasubramanian, but the principal amount will be paid on maturity, that is, after five years.
