UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following O R D E R Writ Petition (C) No.319 of 2017 Heard Mr. K.K. Venugopal, learned senior counsel for the petitioner, Mr. Ajit Kumar Sinha, learned senior counsel for the Union of India, Mr. Gaurav Sharma, learned counsel for the Medical Council of India and Mr. V.N. Raghupathy, learned counsel for the State of Karnataka, Adv. Having heard learned counsel for the parties, we are inclined to direct the following interim arrangement for the present academic year 2017-2018 :- (i) The second counseling which is going to take place on 11 th May, 2017, shall include the students from minority category to fill up the balance of the said category i.e. 50% of the students, after exclusion from NRI quota. (ii) If a student who has undergone through the process of counseling and does not intend to take admission in the petitioner-Institution, the said student can participate in the second counseling and will be selected keeping in view the directions passed herein-above. (iii) If a student decides not to take admission in the petitioner-Institution, the counseling authority shall allocate him to a college according to his choice as per the regulations. 3 (iv) The counseling shall be conducted by the
respondent No.6, Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangaluru, which has been nominated by the State of Karnataka.
List the matter on 13.9.2017. Writ Petition (Civil) No.341 of 2017 As we have already passed orders making interim arrangement in Writ Petition (Civil) No.244 of 2017 on 4.5.2017, the directions given in that writ petition shall apply to the present writ petition and all other deemed universities as well. The deemed universities are entitled to receive applications till 10 th May, 2017, and send them by e-mail to the authorities latest by 9.00 a.m. List the matter on 13.9.2017.
