IA No. 149401/2023 - APPROPRIATE ORDERS/DIRECTIONS
This application has been listed pursuant to urgent mentioning and directions by Hon'ble the Chief Justice of India.
Our attention has been drawn to the order dated 21.10.2022. Mr. S.V. Raju, learned Additional Solicitor General has entered appearance on behalf of the Union of India. He states that he would require some time to obtain instructions. However, during the course of hearing, it is accepted and admitted that the directions given in the order dated 21.10.2022, as extended vide order dated 13.01.2023 have to be complied. We hope and trust that the State Governments and police will ensure that no hate speeches irrespective of the identity are made against any community and there is no physical violence or damage to the properties. Wherever required, adequate police force or para-military force would be deployed. Further, the authorities including the police will use CCTV cameras installed or record/make video recording in all sensitive areas. The CCTV footage and the video recording will be preserved.
Re-list this application on Friday i.e. on 04.08.2023.
The order be communicated by the Registry to the standing counsel for the State Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and NCT of Delhi.
