UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following<br>O R D E R
Learned Additional Solicitor General has shown us an
affidavit | which<br>he | proposes | to | file | in<br>the | Registry
within two days. | |||||||||
It is stated by learned Additional Solicitor General
that<br>27 | States/Union | Territories | have | set | up<br>the
Executive | Committee<br>in | terms | of | the | National | Urban
Livelihood Mission (NULM) for the purposes of permanent
housing structures in 790 urban cities. | He submits that
the<br>matter | is<br>being | taken | up | with | the | remaining |
States/Union Territories to ensure that the Executive Committee is put in place at the earliest.
Learned Additional Solicitor General further states that regular monitoring of setting up permanent housing structures in 790 urban cities will be done on a monthly basis and monthly progress reports will be called from the States/Union Territories in terms of the Scheme.
Since some progress has been made after the last date of hearing and the Union of India seems to be desirous of implementing the Scheme in its letter and spirit, we 5
adjourn the matter to 24th April, 2015.
A week prior to the next date of hearing, the Union of India should file a status report with regard to the setting up of the Executive Committee in all States/Union Territories and a gist of the progress made in the implementation of the NULM. This should preferably be in the form of a tabular statement.
We expect the Union of India to concentrate not only on the number of shelters that are being constructed, but also on the quality of shelters and the facilities provided therein.
List the matters on 24th April, 2015.
