Learned | counsel
for | the
petitioners |
submits that there is an urgency in regard to |
the interim prayers. The following four issues
are identified for urgent consideration, such
as:
(1) Admissions for the current year: That is, whether they should be on the existing model on the basis of National level entrance tests - (CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, JMET) or through the State level entrance examinations.
(2) Fee fixation: whether fee should be fixed by the Fee Fixation Committees at State Level, or by National Level Fee Fixation Committee or whether there should be mere monitoring of the fees charged by the Colleges to ensure that there is no exploitation or charging of capitation fee.
(3) Composition of Board of Governors: whether Appendix XIX of Process Hand Book requiring the Board of Governors to include 5 3 nominees of the AICTE and State Government is valid.
(4) Part-time Courses: Whether the prohibition or abolition of part-time PGDM/MBA courses is justified.
The first three issues relate to the provisions in the AICTE Handbook and the last issue is with reference to the AICTE Regulations. Therefore, list these matters on 17.3.2011 to enable AICTE to put forth its stand on these four issues and to hear the petitioners regarding the interim prayer. In the meanwhile, petitioners are directed to complete the service.
