In compliance of the order passed yesterday in this matter, the Director of School Education and Literacy, Meghalaya, the contemnor No.1 is present in person and has filed an affidavit stating unconditional apology for the lapses in the matter where the order of the Court was not complied with.

During the course of submissions, the Director has also produced before the Court an Office Order said to be issued by him on 09.08.2017 with the specific requirements of all concerned to promptly attend on all the matters relating to Court cases; pension papers; RTI applications, ACPS matter; teachers salary; advance increment/medical reimbursement; and other matters of urgency.

As observed in the order passed yesterday, delay on the part of the department in dealing with pension cases remains seriously questionable; and it is required that all the corrective measures are taken and the person/s responsible for delay and default are appropriately dealt with.

Having said so, this Court considers it appropriate to defer this matter again while expecting a specific and categorical stand on the part of the Director that all the corrective measures have in fact been taken, the responsibilities affixed, and necessary actions against erring persons taken.

List this matter after four weeks.

The Director need not remain personally present in the Court on the next date.
