HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE D.V.S.S.SOMAYAJULU

WRIT PETITION No.3649 of 2021

ORDER:

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, Sri N. Ashwani Kumar, learned standing counsel representing the State Election Commission and the learned Government Pleader for Revenue.

Learned counsel for the petitioner sought a direction to provide necessary security and webcasting at problematic areas in Mangampet Panchayat in the upcoming Panchayat Elections-2021.

On the basis of instructions, learned standing counsel for the State Election Commission, who is the main answering respondent, stated that there are two circulars/directions issued directing all the polling / Election officers to act promptly and also to ensure that C.C. Cameras, web recording etc., are installed in all problematic / sensitive areas.

Learned standing counsel submits that overall there are 14 wards in Mangampet Gram Panchayat with 4182 voters. Basing upon the assessment of the situation it is submitted that they have installed C.C. cameras at two polling stations and also web cameras at three other centers in the 9th ward, about which a specific complaint is made.

The learned standing counsel states that there is no untoward incident reported till now. As per his instructions,

since adequate steps and safeguards have been taken,no orders are really necessary in this Writ Petition. He also pointed out while arguing the matter that MPDOsare directedto act promptly on the complaintsand immediately they shall report to the Joint Collector and District Collector.

Noting the submissions made by the learned standing counsel for the State Election Commission, this Court is of the opinion that nothing further survives for adjudication in this Writ Petition.

Accordingly, this Writ Petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.

Consequently, Miscellaneous Applications pending, if any, shall stand closed.
